Summer has arrived in Southwest Florida!! This time of year we can expect high temperatures and afternoon thunderstorms – both of which put a strain on your Naples Florida pool equipment. Often, the first sign that your pool is struggling is the development of algae which is sometimes unavoidable due to the dilution of chemicals from excessive rain; however, with proper maintenance and upkeep of your pool equipment, we can reduce the recurrence of algae significantly.
One of the most important components of your pools circulation system includes a filter. As with any kind of filter, they come in all different shapes and sizes, but fundamentally, their purpose is the same – To keep your pool clean and clear and operating efficiently. In order to ensure the pool is circulating properly, regular filter cleaning and regular replacement is necessary.
There are two basic types of pool filtration systems. Those that require a cartridge filter element and those that use a DE (Diatomaceous Earth) filter. Within these two categories of filters there are many different types, sizes, etc. depending on the equipment itself.
Regarding cartridge filter systems, we recommend that in addition to monthly cleaning of the element all cartridge filter elements should be replaced on an annual basis. Many of our customers choose to have this replacement performed automatically each year. In doing so, we are having fewer incidents of algae and therefore reducing the need for excessive chemicals and repairs.
For DE filter systems we recommend annual filter maintenance in addition to monthly cleaning of the filter. The annual filter maintenance consists of taking the filter apart, cleaning the grids and replacing the grids if necessary. This service extends the life of your filter.
At Jeff Wilson Pool Service, keeping your pool clean and clear is our job year round. Weekly Naples Florida pool maintenance and annual filter maintenance/replacement ensure that water is circulating properly, the pump is running efficiently, the filter is removing unwanted debris and the pool is looking beautiful.
